Why are we using Facebook?
Over the last 20 years the Internet has grown to become a part of our everyday life. Most people use a lot of web sites on a regular basis. This often requires users to maintain login data, especially passwords on all those sites, which is both a burden and a security risk, as most people reuse their user id and password combinations in multiple sites.
During the last couple of years a new concept emerged, which is called Federated Identity. In short it means that you have a central place you trust that stores your login and password (your identity) and other web sites can use those services to authenticate you. We have chosen Facebook to be our primary identity provider, because almost all of our users have an account there and we also are able to simplify tasks like site creation through a Facebook Id.
What data do you retrieve from Facebook?
Information privacy is a valid concern for many people. It is our policy to retrieve only the least amount of information necessary to perform a given task. For most scenarios within the eblizz web site this means only your name and profile picture.
